Services Grid
The Services Grid, a set of one or more clusters of computation engines, provides scalable resources to Application and Connex Integration Services. These engines provide stateless computation resources that can dynamically scale to the needs of an individual application. The Real-Time risk service, for example, can compute multiple computationally intensive scenarios to derive risk factors. The Services Grid allows for parallelization of the computation tasks, thus, increasing the performance of computation. The management facilities of the grid allow for static allocation of nodes for tasks as well as dynamic allocation of resources based on overflow processing requirements and free resources.
Domain Application Services – Domain Application Services offer dedicated clusters of engines providing core business functionality. Built on the Grid-Enabled Services Architecture’s framework providing load balancing, scalability and hot fail-over, these services run as clusters of engines centrally monitored and maintained.
Examples of OpenLink’s real-time services include:
Reporting and Calculations – The grid-enabled solution allows for production of reports and risk analysis calculated in a load-balanced, timely manner. The size and configuration of the processing power can be modified "on-the-fly" as needed by processing demands utilizing the Service Grid to balance needs with available computation resources.
Real-Time Risk – The Real-Time Risk services allow for real-time computation of client defined risk calculations. These calculations can range from simple position or PNL valuations to more complex VaR and scenario based exposures. You can execute multiple risk definitions in parallel allowing for high scalability. These engines also allow for fault-tolerance through “hot” failover deployment options and can utilize the computation grid when necessary.
Real-Time Credit – The Real-Time Credit services allow for real-time calculation of client defined credit exposures. These exposures can range from simple payment bucketing algorithms, delta exposure to more complex VaR and scenario based exposures. Similar to the risk definitions, multiple credit definitions can be executed in parallel allowing for high scalability. These engines also allow for fault-tolerance through hot-failover deployment options and can utilize the computation grid.
RTPE - The Real Time Position Engine service provides real-time physical and financial positions for publication to page viewers. The Services architecture allows for a redundant, highly available solution providing position updates to users in real-time.
Accounting - The accounting service provides full multi-currency sub-ledger functionality. The Service can fully utilize the Services Grid to execute postings in parallel based on user defined accounting rules.
STP - Provides rule-based exception processing for front- to back-office transaction events in a clustered, load-balanced environment handling even the most complex exception rules. Given the use of OpenLink’s solution at major financial institutions and the sensitive financial nature of settlements, for example, STP offers a full auditing and security layer. The clustering capability will allow for high-levels of processing.
Operational Risk Management and Monitoring - Basel II compliant operational risk analytics, covering Loss Data Analysis, Key Risk Indicator Analysis, and Anomalous Transaction Detection.
